Jura Polska: Team Integration and Development

Jura Polska is a forwarding company belonging to the Pfleiderer Group and is the exclusive forwarder for companies of the Group in Poland.
At the beginning of the year 2007, Time for Team consultants launched a program in the company aimed at improving business results through the more efficient utilization of team potential, improving communication effectiveness in the team, and the development of individual team members by raising their self–awareness as to their talents and predispositions. 

The program consisted of three phases that were implemented over a period of seven months. 

1. TEAM POTENTIAL ANALYSIS 

A one–day workshop applying the Extended DISC® methodology was conducted during this phase. Workshop participants learned about the model facilitating the identification of their own style of behavior as well as the preferred style of action of their colleagues. They also learned how to adapt their manner of communications to various people.
An important point of the program was the discussion on team potential based on the results of the Extended DISC® Team Analysis. The outcome of this discussion consisted of recommendations for the team leader.
Each of the team members received an individual report on their natural talents and predispositions, which was also a possible subject for discussion with the consultant during an individual session. 

2. BUILDING TRUST AND IMPROVED RELATIONS 

A successive workshop was organized in this phase. Its main point was a group feedback session moderated by the Time for Team consultants. The unique form of the session as well as tools used created a significantly improved climate in the team, which made possible a clarification of several difficult issues that had a negative impact on relations in the team. 

3. IMPROVING ACTION METHODS 

At this point each team learned its potential and improved interpersonal relations. It was time to improve action methods. The Extended DISC® Team Alignment tool was used to this end. It was on the basis of the results of this examination that a working meeting was conducted that was intended to build an action plan facilitating the implementation of conclusions flowing from the study. Recommendations for action related to such areas as updating the company mission statements, improving concrete business processes, increasing the scope of delegated powers, etc.
The management of Jura Polska assessed the program as very helpful in implementing the company’s ambitious business objectives.
